If you want a change from days of lazy lingering on the beach you may want to make a day-trip to some of the nice destinations not too far away from Mimizan.

Les Landes is the name used for the forest region bordering the Bay of Biscay in the Bassin Aquitaine in the South-West of France. For the sporty ones among us, there are many cycling routes and hiking trails that will take you into forests, through dunes, along lakes or along the rough coastal lines. The Silver Coast is famous for its large outstretching white beaches, impressive dunes, its perfect surf conditions and also the pleasant coastal towns with beach-style boutiques, bars and (seafood) restaurants. such as Arcachon, Hossegor and Biscarosse. Discover the beautiful Pyrenees and the lovely Pays Basque on both sides of the French-Spanish border. Drive along the coast towards Biarritz and St Jean de Luz just to enjoy the sceneries. We also recommend a city tour to San Sebastian to enjoy the old city and to taste the best tapas of Spain.
Or you can choose to visit Bordeaux and St Emilion, capitals of the Bordeaux wines. Many wine Chateaux offer (private) guided tours and wine tastings. Bordeaux, Margaux, Pomerol, Pauillac, St Émilion, just to name a few, the selection of wineries is yours to make, Also, stop at any restaurant in the area, wether fancy or more simple ‘villageois’ style, and you are bound to have an amazing meal served with a delicious local wine.
